Working under the supervision of the renowned ecclesiastical
architect Bruce Deacon, NSE were commissioned to carry out the
complete replacement of the lead roof the south aisle of St Botolph
Church. After erecting a fully weather proof scaffolding cocoon and
stripping the old cast leadheet which was sent for re-casting, it
was made aware that extensive timber works and stone repairs would
be necessary prior to installing the new sand cast lead roof. These
included re-boarding of the entire roof substraite and the full
reconstruction of box gutters and outlets. Following the code 7
& 8 sand cast roof installation, the old existing temporary
palstic downpipes were replaced with modern powder coated cast
aluminium. All works were brought in on time and on budget, another
succsess story for the committed craftsmen at NSE.
